UAE is set to witness the hottest period this year, recent predictions say. The country will experience harsh and dry weather from June to September. To not put the lives of workers at projects and construction sites at stake, The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) announced a midday break from 12.30 PM to 3.00 PM starting from the 15th of this month to the 15th of September 2022.
To educate the workers about the importance of the new ordinance and their rights to work at the specified time only, various awareness programs and guidance initiatives will be conducted across the country. This ban will certainly develop a healthy working atmosphere for the workers who spent most of their days under the scorching sun.
Employers are instructed to provide proper cooling facilities and shade from direct sunlight for the employees to relax during the break. Furthermore, establishments that violate the order will be levied with an administrative fine of Dhs 5000 per worker. A maximum of Dhs 50,000 will be imposed on the management if multiple workers are found violating the midday break.
The public can report violations of the ordinance to the ministry through the call center on 600590000 from Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Or complaints can be registered through the authority’s app as well.
