Newsletter JUN 2025 01

If you have spent at least one summer in the Gulf region, you already know it’s not just hot here, but next-level hot. And when you work outside for longer hours, this high temperature becomes not just uncomfortable but dangerous as well.  Effective from the 1st of June to September 15th, 2025, the Ministry of Labour in Qatar has implemented the summer working hours to protect the workers from the effects of extreme heat. The renewed working hours are from 10 AM to 3.30 PM and apply to all outdoor worksites.

This means no outdoor labour, be it at a construction site, road work, or any other outdoor labour, is allowed during the peak heat hours. This is to prevent labourers from working under the scorching sun, which leads to the risk of dehydration, exhaustion, sunburn, etc. If you are an employer, it’s time to adjust the schedule accordingly. Also, be sure to display the working hours clearly at the job site, provide adequate hydration and a shaded resting area, and ensure proper health and safety measures are set in place.

This midday break is not just a regulation but an initiative of care and responsibility. By following this, we are respecting the hard-working individuals who work under the blazing sun, building the future.
